Revolutionary Men’s Group

Are you a man who is drawn to do your own healing work; who longs to feel more connected to yourself and other people; who longs to feel more alive, and who is tired of hiding beneath the armor that this society demands of you? Do you wish to connect with other men to transform your relationship with yourself and others?

Join Us

We live in a society that asks men to disconnect from their hearts. Men are often judged, humiliated, or pathologized for expressing true, real feelings.

The tide is turning, and a new way is possible.

Welcome! I’m Ellie Brown, and as a psychotherapist, it’s been a deep honor to spend several years in practice learning of the complexities of men’s lives and experiences. Through this work with men, I have witnessed and experienced how societal expectations harm men and leave little space for them to live authentically and vulnerably.

Men are told they are too passive, too aggressive, too passive-aggressive, too emotional, too closed off, too toxic, too defensive...the list goes on. But how do you change when there is so little support for men available, and few clear alternatives for how to be in the world? And how do you change when the people around you struggle to give you space to embody something different?

Together we will explore a new way of being beyond the expectations of society—one that reconnects you to the vibrant aliveness within you that’s buried beneath layers of armor that are ready to melt away.

In The Revolutionary Men’s Group, we will explore:

  • Having space to feel and express your full range of emotions, such as anger, grief, and joy, while staying connected to self and others. For example, when you feel strong anger, is there a way you can feel it without lashing out?

  • Expressing deep needs and desires without shame and fear of judgement

  • Learning how to share uncomfortable or vulnerable parts of yourself with trusted others. For example, when you try to express vulnerable emotions to your partner or close family, do they struggle to give you space to actually feel without jumping into “fix-it” mode?

  • Learning to take accountability for your feelings, your needs, and your actions in order to deepen relationships and step into your full self.

  • Developing self-worth outside of achievements and excellence. Men in my practice often express feeling “not enough.” How do you find a sense of purpose and meaning outside of work and external achievements, or outside of acts of service?

  • Developing more comfort with vulnerability, especially with asking for help and being open to receiving genuine support.

  • Creating community by connecting with other men about shared experience across ages. Most men often rely solely on their primary partner or spouse for their emotional and social needs. We will explore seeking support and building deeper relationships outside of your primary relationship. Forming connections with the other men in the group will be a huge part of this.

Men deserve more. More connection. More emotional expression. More joy. More life force energy. More love! If you know in your bones that this is true, and want to take another step in the direction of your own healing and liberation, as well as collective healing and liberation, please join us.

Group Logistics:

Format

I facilitate this group as a gently-structured therapy process group. During the first 30 minutes I lead a grounding exercise and provide brief education about various ways that society may shape the way you experience vulnerability, relationships, life challenges, etc., based on your identity as a man. We dedicate the remaining hour to open processing time amongst the group members, based on an initial prompt I give to inspire and focus our conversation. As a body-based practitioner, I guide you in experiencing sensation and connection in the present moment, which helps foster your capacity to embody a new way of being and connecting.

Location

The group is held in-person in the group room of my office building located in Hampden, Baltimore. I will provide more location and parking details after you sign up.

When

The group will meet weekly on Thursdays from 11 - 12:30pm starting on 10/16/25, and ending on 12/11/25. (*Note: We will not meet on 11/27/25 in observation of the Thanksgiving holiday.)

Payment

The group costs $100/session. For payment, I set you up in my HIPAA-secure platform Simple Practice, and charge you individually via credit card after each group session. Check or cash is also accepted. Sliding scale options available - please inquire with Ellie to learn more.

Insurance

I am an out-of-network provider, and will provide superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. This group will be billed as “90853 Group Therapy.” Please inquire with your insurance company directly about your out-of-network benefits for group therapy. (CPT code is 90853).

Attendance

To create and maintain the safety of the group container, I ask that you commit to attending all 8 of the groups if possible. However, if you need to miss one group due to a pre-planned vacation or conflict, please inform me when you register.
