My Approach
Soulful
I refer to my work as a therapist as my sacred work because it really is that: listening to the inner workings of human hearts and minds is deeply sacred. I practice with reverence for your humanity. My work is a deep honor that is ever evolving and emerging in rhythm with what each person brings to each session. I am interested in your soul — helping you come to know it, love it, and express it in the world.
Embodied
Our unconscious minds and the collective unconscious communicate through our bodies. The body stores all of our memories and experiences from even before we were born, as well as the memories of our ancestors. We honor the body and its wisdom by attuning to it during session; we pay attention to movement and sensation and breath. In my sessions, slowing down and listening to the body is often a pathway to deep healing, insights, and transformation for my clients. When we feel our embodied aliveness, we remember our divine right to be here and to belong.
Liberatory
I approach my work from a systemic and liberatory perspective. For me, this means practicing with a keen awareness of how my identity as a white, cisgender woman impacts my work with my clients. While I actively work to identify and dismantle the ways I’ve internalized systems of oppression such as white supremacy and patriarchy, I also help people, in particular white-identifying folks, see how these systems affect them on a day-to-day level. When we illuminate the harmful, insidious effects of these external forces, we bit by bit strip them of their power, and we make space for new ways of being and relating in the world that are liberating!
In session, we practice embodying a new way of being free of the constraints these systems impose, which for most folks leads to completely new experiences of joy, freedom, energy, connection, and reverence for self and others.
